Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking, has released an official recruitment notification for Teachers, Librarian, and Instructor posts. Eligible candidates from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh can apply online within the specified dates. This recruitment will be for Oil India Higher Secondary Schools and Group Vocational Training Centre.

Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking invites applications from eligible candidates from its production and exploration areas in the districts of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar and Charaideo in Assam and Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh for recruitment to the undermentioned posts of Teachers & Librarian in Oil India Higher Secondary School, Duliajan & Moran and the post of Instructor for Group Vocational Training Centre at OIL, Field Headquarters.
In addition, for the post of Instructor, applications are also invited from eligible Diploma Apprentice candidate(s) who have successfully undergone and completed Apprenticeship Training in the relevant discipline in Oil India Limited and possess Certificate of Proficiency issued by Board of Practical Training (BOPT), Eastern Region, Kolkata.

Educational Qualification

Graduate Teacher Posts (Grade–V)

1. Graduate Teacher (Mathematics):
Candidates must have passed a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Mathematics securing at least 45% marks from a Government-recognized University or Institute. Physics and Chemistry must be included as core or pass subjects at the graduation level. Applicants must also possess a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from an NCTE-recognized institution. In addition, candidates must have passed Class 10 with Assamese as MIL or Elective subject and should be capable of teaching in both Assamese and English medium.

2. Graduate Teacher (English):
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in English with minimum 45% marks from a recognized University or Institute along with a B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution. Candidates must be capable of teaching and have understanding of Assamese, Hindi, and English languages.

3. Graduate Teacher (Hindi):
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Hindi with at least 45% marks. Political Science, Geography, History, Economics, or Education must be studied as a core or pass subject in Graduation. A B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution is mandatory. Applicants must have passed Class 10 with Hindi as MIL or Elective subject and must be capable of teaching in Assamese, Hindi, and English medium.

4. Graduate Teacher (Assamese):
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Assamese with minimum 45% marks from a recognized University. Political Science, Geography, History, Economics, or Education must be included as a core or pass subject in Graduation. A B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution is required. Candidates must have passed Class 10 with Assamese as MIL or Elective subject and be capable of teaching in Assamese and English medium.

5. Graduate Teacher (Physics):
Candidates must have passed a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Physics securing at least 45% marks. Chemistry and Mathematics must be studied as core or pass subjects at Graduation level. A B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution is compulsory.

6. Graduate Teacher (Geography):
Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Geography with minimum 45% marks. History, Economics, Political Science, or Education must be included as a core or pass subject. A B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution is required. Candidates must have passed Class 10 with Assamese as MIL or Elective subject.

7. Graduate Teacher (Chemistry):
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Chemistry with minimum 45% marks. Physics and Mathematics must be core or pass subjects at Graduation level. A B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution is mandatory. Applicants must have passed Class 10 with Assamese as MIL or Elective subject.

8. Graduate Teacher (Biology):
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Zoology with Botany and Chemistry as core or pass subjects, OR Major/Honours in Botany with Zoology and Chemistry as core or pass subjects, securing at least 45% marks. A B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution is compulsory. Candidates must have passed Class 10 with Assamese as MIL or Elective subject.

9. Librarian:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Library and Information Science from a Government-recognized University or Institute.


Post Graduate Teacher Posts (Grade–VII)

10. Post Graduate Teacher (Economics):
Applicants should have a Master’s Degree in Economics with minimum 50% marks and a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Economics with at least 45% marks. A B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution is required. Candidates must be capable of teaching in English medium.

11. Post Graduate Teacher (Physics):
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Physics with minimum 50% marks and a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Physics with at least 45% marks along with a B.Ed. degree. Teaching ability in English medium is essential.

12. Post Graduate Teacher (Mathematics):
Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Mathematics with minimum 50% marks and a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Mathematics with at least 45% marks. A B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution is mandatory.

13. Post Graduate Teacher (English):
Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree in English with minimum 50% marks and a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in English with at least 45% marks along with a B.Ed. degree.

14. Post Graduate Teacher (Education):
Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Education with minimum 50% marks and a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Education with at least 45% marks. A B.Ed. degree is compulsory.

15. Post Graduate Teacher (Accountancy):
Candidates must possess an M.Com degree with minimum 50% marks along with a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Accountancy or Finance & Accounts with at least 45% marks. A B.Ed. degree is required.

16. Post Graduate Teacher (Business Studies):
Applicants should have an M.Com degree with minimum 50% marks and a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Business Administration, Marketing Management, or Business Management with at least 45% marks. A B.Ed. degree is compulsory.

17. Post Graduate Teacher (Botany):
Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Botany or Life Sciences (Botany) with minimum 50% marks and a Bachelor’s Degree with Major/Honours in Botany with at least 45% marks. A B.Ed. degree is required.

18. Post Graduate Teacher (Computer Science):
Applicants should possess an M.Sc in Computer Science or Master of Computer Application (MCA) with minimum 50% marks along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Bachelor of Computer Application with at least 45% marks. Candidates must be capable of teaching in English medium.


Instructor Posts (Grade–VII)

19. Instructor (Mechanical)

Candidates must have passed Class 10 from a recognized Board and must possess a three-year Diploma in the relevant Engineering discipline from a recognized University or Board. In addition, a minimum of five years of post-qualification full-time work experience in oil and gas fields in State or Central Government organizations, PSUs, or Private Sector organizations is mandatory. For Diploma Apprentice candidates trained in Oil India Limited, the apprenticeship period will be counted as valid work experience as per the official notification.

20. Instructor (Chemical)

Candidates must have passed Class 10 from a recognized Board and must possess a three-year Diploma in the relevant Engineering discipline from a recognized University or Board. Important Notes on Age

(i) The candidates should not be less than 18 years of age. Age relaxation for PwBD and ESM candidates shall
be as per Government of India directives.
(ii) Date of Birth (DOB) as mentioned in the Admit Card or Pass Certificate or Marksheet of Class 10 issued
by the concerned Government recognized Education Board will only be considered as valid proof of date of
birth. No other document will be accepted for verification of date of birth.
(iii) Permanent OIL employees will be allowed age relaxation to the extent of service rendered by them as OIL
employees for being considered in direct recruitment subject to a maximum age limit of 50 years. This is
subject to fulfilment of the requisite notified criteria.
(iv) The Listed-I, Listed-II & Listed-III category of Work Contract Labours (WCLs) will be allowed age
relaxation to the extent of service rendered by them as Contract Labours through the contractors for execution
of OIL’s contractual jobs for being considered in direct recruitment subject to a maximum age limit of 50
years. This is subject to fulfilment of the requisite notified criteria.
(v) For post code INTRM12026, INTRC12026 & INTRP12026: Diploma Apprentice candidate(s) who have
successfully undergone and completed Apprenticeship Training in the relevant discipline in Oil India
Limited and possess Certificate of Proficiency issued by Board of Practical Training (BOPT), Eastern
Region, Kolkata will be given age relaxation over and above the maximum age limit prescribed for different
category(s) in this advertisement/notification to the extent of the duration of Apprenticeship Training period
they have undergone in OIL.

Selection Process

The selection process for Oil India Limited recruitment will be conducted in the following stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT)

  • The selection process will start with a Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • The CBT will be of 100 marks and 2 hours duration.
  • The question paper will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • No negative marking will be applicable.

Qualifying Marks in CBT:

  • UR / OBC (NCL) / EWS: 50%
  • SC / ST / PwBD: 40%

2. CBT Exam Pattern

The CBT will consist of the following sections:

  • Part A: General English, General Knowledge/Awareness & Questions on Oil India Limited – 20%
  • Part B: Reasoning, Mental Ability & Computer Knowledge – 20%
  • Part C: Domain / Subject / Technical Knowledge related to the post – 60%

(For some posts like Librarian, Computer Science & Instructor, Part C will be purely technical/subject based.)


3. Document Verification (DV)

  • Candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification strictly on the basis of CBT merit.
  • Shortlisting ratio will be 1:1 (one candidate for one vacancy).
  • Original documents along with self-attested photocopies must be produced.
  • Failure to produce valid documents will lead to rejection of candidature.

4. Medical Examination

  • Provisionally selected candidates must undergo a Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME).
  • Final appointment is subject to being declared medically fit by the competent medical authority.

5. Final Selection

  • Final selection will be made purely on the basis of CBT marks, subject to successful document verification and medical fitness.
  • In case of tie in CBT marks, preference will be given based on:
    1. Higher marks in Part C
    2. Higher marks in Part B
    3. Older age
